Events | Drapers Independents Awards

21st September 2014

Earlier this week I was lucky enough to attend the prestigious award ceremony in London that is the Drapers Independents Awards 2014. Since starting my job at Visualsoft almost three years ago (how time flys!), I have always gotten excited seeing my clients get shortlisted for a Drapers award. Last year Little Mistress brought home the bacon by winning the award for Young Fashion Brand of the year. This year, another one of my fabulous clients was up for not one but THREE awards at the Drapers Indies and that was Collectif, a specialist in vintage reproduction who managed to take home the award for Niche Fashion Brand of the Year.

Following an early 6am start, I could barely keep my eyes open but off I went to meet some of my fellow colleagues at Egglescliffe station to begin our train journey to the big smoke. We had a mad dash to get ready once we checked into our hotel however we still managed to be right on time! We arrived at The Brewery around midday where we were greeted with champagne upon arrival and given the chance to network with other companies and sponsors.

It wasn’t long until we were taken to our seats and waited our 3 course lunch to be served. Sipping wine and talking amongst ourselves, the award ceremony soon began which was hosted by the editorial director of Drapers, Eric Musgrave.

They saved the biggest and best award until last – the lifetime achivement award which was rewarded to Rita Brittan, the owner of Pollyanna, in celebration of her 50 years served within the fashion industry (by this point it got pretty emotional!).

Have you ever attended a fashion ceremony like this? What do you think of these kind of events?
