Travel | Things to do in Dubai, United Arab Emirates

15th October 2014

Although it now seems like a distant memory in my head, I thought I would share some of my holiday photos from my trip to Dubai earlier this month. This post is pretty photo heavy but I’ve tried to include the highlights from my holiday and the places I visited that might help other travellers plan their next trip. Hope you enjoy them!

Dubai Mall

Dubai Mall is one of the world’s largest shopping malls (let’s take a moment to process that); it really does have everything you could want. Under one roof you can enjoy a massive collection of international shops such as Bloomingdales, Victoria’s Secret and even Topshop, as well as a range of exclusive boutiques. If shopping’s not really your thing, you can visit the 10 million litre aquarium tank and visit their underwater zoo. For the gaming geeks amongst us, there is an indoor theme park called SEGA Republic as well as a cinema, ice skating rink, endless food outlets to keep you busy.

The Burj Khalifa

burj khalifa

Awarded a Guinness World Record for the world’s tallest tower, the Burj Khalifa measures at 452 metres high! Inside the tower holds a luxury Armani hotel and cafe, home and offices and an observation deck for tourists (like me!). We decided to do the ‘At The Top’ experience as we missed out the last time we visited. One of the highlights of the Burj Khalifa was getting to the top in the lift. In just 60 seconds we were taken to the 124th floor of the tower which was pretty impressive! Once we were at the top we were able to take our time looking out the windows at the city of Dubai whilst was great.

Atlantis – The Lost Chambers Aquarium

Atlantis is on the large palm island which is one of the biggest attractions in Dubai. We got the monorail across so we could see the palm from above and it’s amazing to see how much it has developed since the last time we visited two years ago! On the palm you can find a gorgeous 5^ hotel, the Wild Wadi waterpark and a mesmerizing aquarium called The Lost Chambers.

Hard Rock Cafe

It wouldn’t be right going to a city and not visiting Hard Rock Cafe – it’s almost like a tradition for me and Ross to hunt down the famous restaurant whenever we go away together. The Hard Rock in Dubai is located in Dubai Festival City and it is the biggest one I’ve ever visited!

Sweet Treats

If you’ve got a sweet tooth then you’ll definitely be satisfied with the treats that Dubai has to offer. I personally loved Morelli’s ice cream parlor where I got the creamiest ice cream topped with hot fudge sauce, they also do waffles and crepes. Another place we visited was the Cold Stone Creamery which offered us a dessert like no other. I got birthday cake batter ice with brownies, rainbow strands and chocolate sauce finished off in a cool waffle cone tub.

The Cars

With a car fanatic for a boyfriend, we spent a lot of our time looking at the luxurious cars driving around the city. If you want to be guaranteed some great motors, the valet parking at the Mall of Emirates and Dubai Mall are both great for car spotting.

Dubai Marina

Dubai Marina is a lovely place for a stroll away from the hustle and bustle of the malls. It’s great to have a wander around looking at the boats and the skyscrapers around them.

What do you think of Dubai? Where is your favourite place to visit?
