Nosh Healthy Kitchen | Linthorpe Road, Middlesbrough
Since opening their doors at the end of March, I have been longing to try the Nosh Healthy Kitchen which is based on Linthorpe Road in Middlesbrough. In my hometown healthy eateries are hard to come by so there was no surprise that everybody on social media started going crazy when they heard about Nosh!
Following the announcement of the new healthy takeaway shop, I signed up to their newsletter to get a sneak peek at the menu which I was pretty impressed by. It’s like the food-fanatics dream only healthier with delicious dishes such as the Skinny Parmo, the Muscle Box and Spag bol. You may be thinking that healthy means ‘tastless’ however this is definitely not the case when it comes to Nosh!
A couple of weeks ago I was busy running errands and didn’t have chance to stop for my lunch until 3:30! On my way home I thought I would pop by Nosh to try it out once and for all. I managed to beat the lunch time rush and didn’t have to wait long for my order. I loved the interior of the restaurant, it has a lovely industrial feel to it with exposed bulbs, chunky wooden tables and metal high chairs. The staff were really friendly and I got a lovely surprise when I bumped into one of my old school friends who was working away in the kitchen.
Moving on to the main event – the food! Baring in mind it was getting on for tea time, I decided to indulge in their meal deal which allowed me to pick a main meal, two sides and a drink for £10.50. I decided to go with the Saffron chicken (pieces of chicken in a Nosh special sauce), brown rice, spicy sweet potato wedges and a bottle of lemongrass infused water. Initially I thought the portions would be considerable small but I was so wrong! I was only able to eat half of my food because I was so full!
The chicken was lovely and fresh with just enough sauce to cover it without it becoming to sickly. The sauce was delicious but I can’t seem to put my finger on what it tasted like! My chicken was accompanied with my side order of brown rice and some salad.
The sweet potato wedges were lovely and had a nice balance between sweet and spicy. I was really impressed with my meal from Nosh and was full for hours afterwards. The only downside was that my food was a little bit sweaty by the time I got it home however it was still really warm which I guess is the main thing!
