Botanics Mattifiying Gel

Like many girls, I struggle with oily skin and now that we’re in the midst of summer, I’ve been hoping to get my hands on a new moisturiser that would help keep the excess grease at bay. Whilst browsing the shelves in Boots, I came across the Botantics range which seemed affordable and offered a mattifying gel moisturiser so I decided to give it a go. Here’s what I thought…

We’ve had some beautiful weather lately but it’s not doing my skin any favours. The Good Things Miracle Mattifier lotion is usually my go-to moisturiser but I deicded to switch things up a bit as I’m a firm believer that your skin gets used to products so they become less effective. Hoping for a lasting matte base, I decided to try the mattifying gel by Botanics.

I was intrigued by the gel consistancy however I wasn’t at all impressed by the product as a whole. Whilst the gel appeared to dull the oil on my face, I was unable to rub it into my skin without it flaking and leaving small balls of gel all over my face. Even when I tried to apply the gel lightly and then cover with foundation, there were glaring patches around my face where the gel hadn’t been properly rubbed in. I’ve tried a handful of times but I just can’t get away with it!

Have you tried anything from the Botanics range before? What are your thoughts?
