Bloggers Day Out to The Stables at Cross Butts Restaurant | Whitby, North Yorkshire
Yesterday I met up with fellow bloggers, Danni and Caroline, for a lovely lunch out in the countryside. As Caroline lives in Scarborough, Danni and I met her halfway on the outskirts of Whitby for lunch at The Stables at Cross Butts restaurant. The Stables is about a 30 minute drive from Middlesbrough and has some fabulous green land surrounding it making it the perfect venue for a picturesque wedding or function.
From the get-go, I was amazed by the size of The Stables. With on-site animals, a play area for the kids, a cafe, shop and restaurant, there’s plenty of things to keep guests busy for a couple of hours. Entering the Stables restaurant was like walking into my dream living room with lots of rustic furniture made from wood, beautiful lighting fixtures and stunning stained glass windows. The setting was cosy with warm lighting and a country feel to it.
We were shown to our table where we were given the menu to have a look at. The menu featured a variety of tempting options all made using locally sourced, quality ingredients. I went with the steak and ale pie served with chunky chips, veg and a gravy boat whilst Danni and Caroline decided to go for a classic margherita pizza served with skinny fries. My pie came in its own dish and the puff pastry was carefully placed on top to create a lid. The pastry was light and flaky, and the braised steak inside fell apart with ease. One thing I was slightly worried about was the ale being too strong but luckily it was just right and tasted beautiful.
After our lunch, we headed out into the garden to let our dinner digest and watch Caroline’s son, Joshua, enjoy himself in the children’s play area. Lucky for us, the sun was shining and it was lovely having a wander around the grounds taking in the beautiful sights of the North Yorkshire moors.
