Flavoursome Dishes & 2 for 1 Cocktails at Turtle Bay | Corporation Road, Middlesbrough

Sweet Potato Curry Turtle Bay

After popping along to the Turtle Bay taster evening before it opened its doors in Middlesbrough a couple of months ago, I was invited back down to the lively Caribbean restaurant to try the new summer menu. With plenty of rum-infused cocktails, mouthwatering jerk dishes and interesting combinations (curry goat anyone?), I couldn’t wait to tuck in.

Turtle Bay Middlesbrough

We arrived at Turtle Bay Middlesbrough* a little earlier than our table reservation on a Friday night so decided to make the most of their popular 2 for 1 cocktail offer by the bar by ordering a passion rum punch. After a swift drink we were soon seated at our table and were well looked after by the staff. During both of my visits to Turtle Bay Middlesbrough, the staff have been extremely friendly and attentive, meaning you’re not sat with an empty glass whilst waiting to get the waiter’s attention, even at busier times.

After trying the sweetcorn fritters as part of a sharing board during my last visit, I was pleased to see they were part of the summer menu too. The portion size was very generous for a starter so my mam had some too so I could save room for my main course. The fritters were made up of sweetcorn, spring onion, coriander & scotch bonnet which made for a beautifully crisp and tasty fritter.

For my main course, I went for another meat-free option which was the sweet potato curry. Served in a large glass pot complete with rice and flatbread, the dish was the perfect serving size. The curry was full of flavour and very spicy which meant I was reaching my drink regularly (the 2 for 1 offer came in handy!).

Banana and toffee cheesecake Turtle Bay

Finally for dessert I tucked into a toffee and banana cheesecake which was topped with the most delicious toffee sauce. The cheesecake was soft and indulgent making it the perfect treat to finish off the evening of flavoursome food. I love the vibrant atmosphere in Turtle Bay Middlesbrough and I’ve already been back to sample more of their amazing cocktail menu which is perfect for quenching your thirst on these hot summer days.
